The Daily Bot
A Slack bot for channels that play a daily game together. It posts the link, collects everyone's result from the thread, and keeps the leaderboard.
Add to SlackFree. Installing needs permission to add apps to your workspace.
How it works in Slack
- At the time you choose, the bot posts your message and the game link to the channel.
- People play, then paste their result as a reply in that post's thread, the same share text the game gives them.
- The bot reads only those replies. A result that parses gets a ✅; chatter in the thread is ignored.
- In the evening it replies in the thread with the day's ranking.
- Once a week it posts a leaderboard thread with every game's best rolls.
Games supported today: RNGdle. More are added as parsers for their share text.
After installing
- Open the channel where you want the daily post.
- Run
/daily-add. Pick the game, the post time, the days, and the message. The first time, you also set the channel's timezone. - The bot joins the channel (invite it yourself if the channel is private) and posts at the next scheduled time.
- Use
/daily-settingsto change the timezone or when the daily and weekly summaries go out.
Commands
/daily-add: add a game to the current channel/daily-list: the channel's games and schedule/daily-remove <game>: stop posting a game in this channel/daily-board [game] [today|week|all]: show the leaderboard/daily-settings: timezone and summary times
What it can see
The bot asks for the smallest set of permissions that make this work: posting messages, joining public channels on request, adding reactions, reading display names, and reading messages in channels it has been added to. It only keeps thread replies under its own daily posts that parse as a game result. Everything else is discarded as it arrives. Details are in the privacy policy.
